Meet The Team

A Life of Service Edward Dermody, born on June 28, 1963, in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, embarked on a journey that would define him by service. After graduating from Dunmore High School, Ed answered the call to duty, joining the U.S. Navy in 1981. Rising through the ranks, Ed achieved the esteemed position of Chief Petty Officer, demonstrating his dedication and leadership. Following his military service, Ed transitioned into law enforcement, where he honed his skills in protecting and serving communities. His expertise in security eventually led him to a career in engineering, specializing in designing high-security systems for large-scale government entities and local government facilities. Ed’s commitment to helping others extended beyond his professional roles. For the past 30 yrs years, he has been a dedicated volunteer with The American Legion Past Commander, Veterans Of Foreign Wars Past Adjutant, Mission 22 Ambassador and Operation Bar-B-Q Relief for the past 8 yrs with deployments to disaster-stricken areas in Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach, Tallahassee, Wilmington South Carolina and others. His tireless efforts have helped provide over 120,000 hot meals and essential support to communities recovering from natural disasters. In 2024, Ed and his wife, Patricia of 43yrs, founded Help Us To Help Others, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting veterans, first responders, and communities affected by natural disasters. Through preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives, the organization aims to make a lasting impact on those in need. Ed’s life is a testament to his unwavering dedication to service. Whether defending his country in the Navy, protecting communities as a law enforcement officer, or volunteering to aid those affected by disasters, Ed has consistently demonstrated a commitment to making a positive difference in the world.

Patricia Dermody born January 27th 1967 in Newburyport Mass. A graduate of Norfolk High School in 1985. Patricia married the following year and her travels began as the wife of a sailor. Patricia worked in education with challenged youth, the banking industry as a loan processor and currently the serves as the Co-Founder of Help Us To Help Others, Inc. Patricia is the mother of two children, a grandmother of two grand children and active several charity organizations supporting veterans, first responders and the community after natural disasters.

Help Us to Help Others, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Disaster Relief organization.

 

Our mission is to stand side by side with our veterans, first responders, and community volunteers who bravely respond to crises. We truly understand the unique challenges they face and are dedicated to providing essential support and resources they need right on the front lines. By creating a warm and welcoming network of collaboration, we empower these amazing individuals as they work tirelessly to protect and serve our communities. Together, we’ll make sure those who serve others are supported, appreciated and valued every step of the way.

Our commitment to serve extends beyond disaster response. Through initiatives like our "
Salute to Our Heroes Project" that recognizes the heroes who respond at a moments notice to protect our communities.
